Fall weather arrives and its time to dig out the crochet and knitting needles to whip up some cozy accessories to keep you toasty despite the cold. I have entered a crocheting frenzy and am caught up in multiple projects all at once. My little sister asked me for some boot cuffs a couple weeks ago and little does she know she is in for a surprise! I am making her a couple cowls and some cute little gloves to match. She will be positively tickled as she is too young to have a job yet so can not afford to go shopping for whimsical, non-necessary accessories.
I’ve been searching the net the past week and have come up with some adorable patterns that are classic but modern at the same time. Mostly I will be using muted earth colors so that she can match them with multiple outfits but I picked up some gorgeously vibrant blue yarn that I just could not pass up at Jo Ann Fabrics last week. Last night I finally began one of the projects and I am so pleased with how it is turning out so far. I will definitely be having to make extras of all of these projects for my own wardrobe.
Etsy has been my go to site for inspiration and patterns. I came across this chic cowl by Eleven Handmade. Normally I prefer to find free patterns but this was so young and stylish I knew my little sister would love it so I made an exception.
I am using Lion Brand Heartland Yarn in Glacier Bay and a 6.5 mm rosewood hook. I finished the triangle section last night and am going to begin the diameter of the cowl this evening. If you click on the picture it will take you to Eleven Handmade’s Etsy shop if you would like to brows her patterns.
I will pair this with some grey boot warmers and fingerless gloves (that I have yet to make). If you know of any cute patterns for these accessories I would love to see them! What are you favorite items to crochet for fall? Do you have a go to pattern or colors? Happy needlework!
