Dreary monotony calls for an excess of caffeine. The weather has been positively dismal the past week with barely a break of sun to lighten the landscape and lift the mood. Fall appeared overnight and merged into winter with a vengeance. When you are suffering from sudden summer withdrawals what better way of coping is there than to indulge in large volumes of glorious black coffee – or as I like to call it, sunshine in a cup?
This morning my brain is firing on a deficit of cylinders and I can’t seem to kick it into gear even with my triple grande two pump vanilla soy late nearly consumed (yes, I go to Starbucks on occasion). Convenience is a wonderful thing when you roll out of bed with the morning fog and stumble to work as the sun rises. However the price tag that goes hand in hand with that convenience does take a toll on your pocketbook that can be none too pretty. I really aught to take better advantage of my coffee maker at home and start pocketing those ones and fives for a trip to a tropical island next winter!
I have discovered a quaint new place to enjoy my seasonal addiction for hot beverages as well as my all year round craving for sweets. If you live in Oregon near Portland check out “Seriously Cupcakes” in Wilsonville (http://www.seriously-cupcakes.com/). They offer delicious treats and a nice warm cup of joe to go with them.
What is your favorite way to spend the day when the wind blows and the sky is grey?
